Ministry of Labour and Employment is promoting its aim to abolish child labour

With its aim to abolish child labour, Ministry of Labour and Employment is promoting ‘The Child Labour (Prohibition and Regulation) Amendment Act, 2016 which has come into force from September 1 2016.

The act ensures:

  • Complete ban on employment below the age of 14 years.
  • Child labour is now a cognizable offence.
  • Adolescents (14 to 18 years) prohibited to work in hazardous occupation/processes.
