Cricket South Africa has announced invitation to tender for franchise ownership in new T20 league in South Africa.
Cricket South Africa (CSA), the national governing body for the sport of cricket in South Africa and a Full Member of the International Cricket Council, has announced that a new T20 league will be introduced in the country at the start of its 2017 domestic cricket season. The new league will comprise of eight privately-owned teams. CSA invites individuals, companies and consortiums to express their interest in owning and operating a team within the league.
The league will be played across South Africa during the last quarter of 2017 and will include both national and international players competing on a home-and-away basis.
The process for applying to own and operate a team through a franchise license agreement will be overseen by one of the Big Four global audit firms and will include the following key stages in the qualifying and selection process:
- Submission of an Expression of Interest
- Submission of formal bid proposals
- Evaluation of bid proposals
- Announcement of successful team owners

The deadline for Expressions of Interest is 5:00 pm Central African Time (GMT+2) on Friday, 3rd March, 2017.
