Bengaluru: Most dynamic city in the world by JLL City Momentum Index 2017 & World Economic Forum

Indian city Bangalore (Bengaluru) of Karnataka state has topped “The most dynamic city in the world” according to JLL City Momentum Index 2017 and World Economic Forum. The index measured a city’s population, connectivity, technology and R&D, education, economic output, corporate activity, construction, real estate investment and property prices.

The ranking –

  1. Bangalore (India)
  2. Ho Chi Minh City (Vietnam)
  3. Silicon Valley (USA)
  4. Shanghai (China)
  5. Hyderabad (India)
  6. London (UK)
  7. Austin (USA)
  8. Hanoi (Vietnam)
  9. Boston (USA)
  10. Nairobi (Kenya)

More Indian cities namely Pune (13), Chennai (17), Delhi (23), Mumbai (25) were also in the top 30 list with the marked ranking.

Asia Pacific cities comprise half of the top 30 fastest-changing cities. India took over from China as home to some of the world’s most dynamic cities. Six Indian cities were featured in the CMI Global Top 30, with the country’s primary technology hub, Bangalore, moving into the top spot for the first time.

“With more than half the world’s population currently living in cities, a proportion that is expected to grow substantially over the next few decades, the success of our cities takes on great importance,” noted Jeremy Kelly, JLL Director of Global Research. “The CMI highlights that, despite various political upheavals and ongoing economic uncertainties, many cities continue to show impressive dynamism. Keys to their success are the agility and openness that enable them to adapt quickly to each new wave of global change.”
